10 Winter Activities to Start the New Year Off Right

Fa La La your way into Holly Jolly time with these 10 winter activities that will keep your soul sweating and your heart pumping Christmas cheer into the New Year! Kick off 2019 with a bang and check these fun #fit-tivities off of your bucket list:

  1. Sunset Cliffs Sunday– Hit the seaside with yoga Sunday am or see that bright December sunset before you dig in to the Farmer’s market feast on Wednesday evening in Ocean Beach. And make sure you stay post sunset to watch the fire dancers and hear the drum circle beats by the beach.
  2. Ice Skating on the Beach – Say what? It’s a little crazy to skate on ice in 70 degree weather, but it’s so crazy, it’s cool. See what I did there? Strap on some skates and grab a friend or your lover and get down to the Hotel Del in Coronado for skating on the ocean. Watch the waves roll in as you triple lutz your way around the rink listening to Christmas songs. End the activity with some hot cocoa by the fire.
  3. Glide with a Guide – When the wind is right, run and leap off of a cliff and see the coastline for a solid 30 minutes. It’s an amazing adrenaline rush and then a peaceful parasail ride with a guide from La Jolla Gliderport in Torrey Pines all the way down to Pacific Beach and back. Keep your eyes peeled for those sunbathers down on Black’s beach!
  4. IV to the Rescue– Boost up that immune system with a vitamin-packed IV or B12 booster shot at wellness centers around San Diego, including Koi Wellbeing in Bird Rock. They have more than 15 IV infusion therapies to choose from including “Traveler” and “Power Detox” for that trip home to visit family or the New Year’s recovery.
  5. Big Bear Shred Sesh – Just a few hours from San Diego’s sandy beaches, you can shred the snowy gnar at Big Bear. Home to award winning terrain parks and 748 permitted acres, Bear Mountain is home to the largest learning area in SoCal.
  6. Encinitas Meditation Garden & Spa Day – Stroll through the meditation gardens on a cliff overlooking the pacific and find a sweet spot to close your eyes and meditate with the waves crashing in the background. Head on over to Four Moons spa and zen out with a massage, yoga class or sit down with a spiritual healer and purchase an energy work session to clear those cobwebbed shakras and let that chi flow.
  7. Everyday California – December and January are the best times to try to catch a whale up close as they migrate down to Baja. Get close up in a kayak from La Jolla shores – a once in a lifetime experience! And if you miss the whales you’ll definitely spot a seal, dolphin or some neat fish. A tour the whole family will enjoy. Email info@fitcityadventures.com to set up your tour today for a special Fit City Adventures discount
  8. Spin it out – Rush cycle recently added another location to its growing cycle company. Check out Rush Mission Valley and get movin’ and groovin’ to fight off those holiday cookies and heat up the room with your friends while dancing on the bike!
  9. Full moon dance party – Trilogy Sanctuary in La Jolla is known for aerial yoga, vegan bites and tribal drum beats at their full moon celebrations. Their rooftop offers views of the moon while their earth room drum ceremony brings together drummers from around the county and dancers to feel the beat. Anyone can bring a bongo drum and join in the fun.
  10. Rock that wall – Belay a buddy and fall in love with climbing at one of San Diego’s indoor rock climbing gyms. Mesa Rim and Vertical Hold both offer beginner classes every day and stay open late. Challenge yourself with tough technical climbs or jump around on the mats and try bouldering on for size. You’ll be outside scaling walls at Joshua Tree when the weather turns to spring time temps!
